Sikandar Raza to captain as Zimbabwe gear up for T20I challenge
Zimbabwe have announced a well-rounded 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand, set to commence on July 14 at the Harare Sports Club. Senior all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been handed the leadership duties once again, bringing his wealth of experience to a side that blends youth with established names. The tri-nation competition will follow a double round-robin format, with the top two teams progressing to the final scheduled for July 26.

Injury returns and new inclusions boost Zimbabwe’s squad depth
Among the key inclusions, left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava makes a welcome return after recovering from a lower-back injury that had kept him out of recent fixtures. Brian Bennett, who was sidelined midway through the recent Test series against South Africa due to a concussion, has also been cleared and finds his place in the squad.
Zimbabwe’s selectors have introduced fresh talent with the inclusion of three uncapped players — wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri, and legspinner Vincent Masekesa. Their addition signals Zimbabwe’s intent to test its bench strength ahead of upcoming ICC events.
The likes of Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga, and Tashinga Musekiwa have retained their places following impressive performances during Zimbabwe’s T20I campaign against Ireland earlier this year. With a healthy mix of batting depth, spin options, and seam attack, the squad appears well-equipped for the competitive series ahead.
