We can’t say exactly when the 2025 World Series will start — it’s too early to set a precise date — but we do know it will be roughly seven months from now.
The site of Game One is equally uncertain, though it seems awfully likely to be Dodger Stadium.
The league champion with the higher regular-season winning percentage gets to host the World Series opener, and it’s difficult to imagine any team other than the Los Angeles Dodgers holding that distinction.
My history-based prediction system has awarded the Dodgers a score of 190 points, 62 more than any other big-league club earned this year. That’s how wide the gulf is between Los Angeles and the remaining 29 teams.

Let’s take a look back at the regular-season predictions that I unrolled in recent weeks:
Those forecasts paved the way for my postseason predictions:
My computer envisions a World Series between the Dodgers and the Astros, a replay of the contentious 2017 matchup won by Houston in seven games.
That title, which was the first in the Astros’ history, was subsequently tainted by allegations that Houston’s players used an electronic sign-stealing system that violated baseball’s rules. Imagine the high drama if those two teams meet again in 2025.
But, then again, my computer isn’t convinced that an Astros-Dodgers World Series would be particularly dramatic.
I ran 10,000 simulations, and Los Angeles won a sizable majority of them — 6,121, to be exact. The other 3,879 went to Houston.
No surprise there. The Dodgers won last year’s world title with relative ease, and they’ve enhanced their roster substantially since then. That’s why it’s safe to say that the World Series will start in Los Angeles in late October — and possibly end there, too, with yet another championship celebration.
