The Stormers on Friday squashed media speculation that Damian Willemse could leave Cape Town before his contract expires in 2027.
Irish club giants Leinster were reportedly targeting the Springbok utility back as a replacement for All Blacks centre Jordie Barrett, who is on a six-month sabbatical.
Willemse, who’s earned 97 caps for the Stormers, signed a five-year deal with the franchise in 2022.
“The Stormers can confirm that Damian Willemse will not be leaving the club to take up any offers as he remains contracted until 2027,” read a statement.
“Willemse will not be taking up any alternative offers, despite further speculation posed in the guise of an April Fool’s joke, although many clubs around the world are obviously interested in the services of the double World Cup winner,” it added.
