The highly anticipated three-match ODI series between India and England kicked off at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur. England won the toss and opted to bat first, aiming to capitalize on the good batting conditions. With both teams looking to start strong, the visitors got off to a steady start before India made a stunning comeback with some brilliant fielding and disciplined bowling.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s spectacular catch gets rid of Ben Duckett
One of the most breathtaking moments of the match came in the 10th over of England’s innings when Yashasvi Jaiswal pulled off a spectacular catch to send Ben Duckett back to the pavilion.
On the third ball of Harshit Rana’s over, Duckett attempted a pull shot off a short-of-length delivery. However, the ball bounced more than expected, taking the top edge of his bat and soaring high in the air. With the ball hanging for what felt like an eternity, Jaiswal had a tough task ahead.
Positioned at mid-wicket, Jaiswal sprinted backward, keeping his eyes locked on the ball while also glancing over his shoulders to track its trajectory. Maintaining his balance at full speed, he timed his dive to perfection, stretching both hands forward to pluck the ball out of thin air. His acrobatic effort left the crowd in awe and turned the tide in India’s favor.

England’s strong start before India’s counterattack
Before Jaiswal’s brilliance in the field, England seemed to be in a commanding position. Their openers, Duckett and Phil Salt, provided a solid start, adding 75 runs for the first wicket. The duo looked confident and was building a strong platform for a big total. However, India struck back out of nowhere. Shreyas Iyer produced a moment of magic with a brilliant run out to dismiss Salt for a well-made 43, shifting the momentum in India’s favor.
The pressure mounted on England, and soon after, Rana bowled a brilliant over that completely rattled the visitors. First, Rana got the breakthrough by dismissing Duckett, courtesy of Jaiswal’s stunning catch. Then, just three balls later, he sent Harry Brook packing for a three-ball duck, putting England in deep trouble.
