At the 17.4-over mark, with Mumbai Indians score reading at 175/4 runs, a lofted shot seemed destined to clear the boundary for a six. Enter Axar. The star all-rounder sprinted across the field, timing his dive to perfection as he leaped toward the ball.
As Naman Dhir launched a powerful shot off a length delivery from Mitchell Starc, Axar, stationed near the boundary, timed his leap perfectly and plucked the ball out of thin air. Realizing he wouldn’t be able to land inside the field of play, he cleverly released the ball just before crossing the boundary rope, preventing a certain six. Though the catch didn’t count, his quick thinking and athletic brilliance turned a maximum into just a single—an incredible save in a tournament where even basic catches have been missed.
