Warriors expect Curry to return tonight vs. Wolves, while Green is ‘possible’ – Insiders Sports

Even though Stephen Curry and Draymond Green didn’t play on Thursday’s game against the Rockets, which meant their first win after falling to five-consecutive defeats, coach Steve Kerr is considering on having them back this Friday evening against the Timberwolves at Chase Center.

Even though he pretty much assured that the point guard would be back on the NBA courts, he couldn’t really say the same about his power forward, simply saying that it is “possible” that Dray would compete this evening in San Francisco.

The Warriors are about to enter the first of a home back-to-back games against Minnesota, as they will play against them again at home on Sunday, caping off a stretch of three games in four nights.

“Steph’s knee stuff the last couple of weeks … he’s in pain,” the coach said before playing Houston. “We’re not playing him. We can’t play him through this stretch every game and expect him to get through. I thought he looked really good in Denver. To me he looked more active, more agile, but we have to help him get through the woods on this one.”

Kerr then referred to Green: “And same thing with Draymond, otherwise you’re chasing your tail and then guys end up missing weeks at a time. So it’s nothing more than training staff helping them get through the woods, and hopefully over the long haul that means they end up playing more games than they otherwise would’ve.”

Curry has already missed two of his team’s last four games due to a bilateral knee injury management, something similar to what happened on November 27 when he was sidelined against the Thunder. This week, he did play against the Nuggets, posting 24 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds in 34 minutes.

While fans anxiously await news on Draymond’s recovery, he expects to return soon but needs to be cautious. “I’ll be 100% honest, I’m a little afraid of going through what I went through two years ago and missing three months,” he said during an episode of The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.

Golden State’s De’Anthony Melton finally undergoes season-ending surgery on his left knee and will start recovery process

Three weeks have past since De’Anthony Melton suffered an injury that would put him out of this season’s NBA competition for good. Finally, this Wednesday, the Golden State player underwent his knee surgery in Los Angeles, as it was confirmed that he won’t recover until next year’s summer.

While the guard recuperates from his partially torn left anterior cruciate ligament that he injured back on November 12 against the Mavericks, the rest of the team will have to find a way to remain healthy throughout the campaign, as many other stars have been in and out of action due to injuries.

For example, the Warriors have had to rule out their veterans stars these past weeks, missing out on crucial matches during their 5-game losing streak. For the all-time leader in three-pointers, he will sat out for the second time in four contest due to what the team called “bilateral knee injury management.”

Before falling to injury, Melton was averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals over 20.2 minutes per game, while shooting 40.7% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.
