Virat Kohli and KL Rahul involved in a tense chat
The rivalry week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is seeing its final match, in which Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are taking on each other.
In the previous match between DC and RCB in Bengaluru, the Axar Patel-led side registered a stunning victory, and KL Rahul was at the forefront of it. Rahul smashed a sensational 93 runs off 53 balls to help DC complete the run chase.
After helping his team win, KL Rahul pounded his chest and drove his bat into the ground like a sword, declaring, “This is my ground.” Heading into the DC vs RCB match in Delhi, there were talks of Virat Kohli doing the same celebration in Delhi.
However, Kohli and Rahul threw cold water over the talks of rivalry and celebration by sharing a heartwarming moment ahead of the commencement of play in Delhi.
It looked like things wouldn’t take a heated turn between the duo, but everyone got it wrong as the intensity of the match got the better of the duo. During the second innings of the match, Kohli and Rahul were caught exchanging heated words.
The broadcasters played a clip after the fifth ball of the 8th over, which was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. In the video, Virat Kohli approached KL Rahul and was seen saying something. The DC didn’t back down and responded fiercely.

He does not need to go and practice extra against left-arm spin – RCB coach on Kohli
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, RCB spin-bowling coach Malolan Rangarajan said that Virat Kohli doesn’t need to put in extra hours to perfect his play against spin. He said:
“It wasn’t only Virat last season who was not batting at the desired strike rate. It was the whole team. So I think the whole team got together. And that’s precisely what happened. That’s part one. Part two is about Virat Kohli as the individual. He does not need to go and practice extra against left-arm spin and leg spin. He’s batted for 20-25 years.”
He further labelled Kohli as a genius, who keeps finding ways to improve and get better at cricket. RCB coach said:
“He’s a genius. He just has to decide what he wants to do and how he wants to take down a particular bowler. And it’s very evident that someone like Virat, even after having played for so long, he’s constantly looking at what more he can do. Which is, to me, unbelievable.”
“The attitude with which he comes into every training session, every match. So, Virat, I don’t think he did anything specifically physically (on his spin play). Batting more of left-arm spin, batting more leg spin. It was just the group coming together and acknowledging the fact that we weren’t good enough last year,” Malolan added.
