Thomas Partey says he is an Arsenal fan but has hinted he is willing to leave the Emirates this summer with his contract due to expire.
Partey’s current deals runs out at the end of June and, although talks over fresh terms are ongoing, nothing has yet been agreed.
Arsenal are also set to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, casting further doubt on the midfielder’s future in North London.
Speaking to Ghanaian television station TV3 while on international duty this week, Partey said: “The first thing is where you are happy and where you feel at home.
“At the end of the day you’ve been in football, you’ve been in different teams. Then it’s about what is your next objective and what do you want to achieve next.
“You still have to look at all this and at the end of the day we all have a family that needs money, this is [in] our mind.”
Partey – I’m an Arsenal fan
Partey has been a regular target for opposing fans over the past two seasons and he admits the happiness of his family will also come into the equation.
He added: “We are not getting younger. There are a lot of things where you have to look now with a family, where you want them to be happy.
“When you go out, nobody is going to destroy your family, these are things you have to look at. When you are young, you are just anywhere.
“I’m an Arsenal fan, I can’t decide anything and just have to leave it to my agent and the club. I just want to enjoy football.”
After struggling with injuries the year before, Partey returned to being a mainstay of the Arsenal midfield last season, making 52 appearances across all competitions.
