The Sri Lankan side, who are now hosting the Bangladesh side for a month-long series in all three formats of the game, are done with the red-ball as well as the ODI format and are preparing for the shortest format of the game.
They will play three T20I matches in this series, which will begin on the 10th of July at Kandy and will be followed by two more games to be played on the 13th and 16th of July at Dambulla and Colombo, respectively.
Sri Lanka last played in the shortest format of the game back in February 2025, when they lost the series to the New Zealand side 2-1. They have made only a few changes from the squad that featured in the New Zealand series.

Bangladesh eye history: Look for first ODI series win in Sri Lanka
Bangladesh, who are currently touring the Lankan islands, faced a humiliating loss in the first ODI, where they suffered an unthinkable collapse, eventually enlisting themselves in the most unwanted record books of cricket history.
However, the visitors came from behind to win the second ODI match against Sri Lanka when they defended 249 runs. The game marked several positives for the Bangla Tigers, from the middle-order batters Towid Hridoy and Parvez Hossain Emon hitting form with fifties to Shamim Hossain’s spell emerging as a surprise to the opposition batters.
Going into the series, Bangladesh would be confident as they eye their first-ever ODI series win on Lankan soil. They raided Pakistan last year with a unique effort to defeat them on their soil in a Test series for the first time in cricket’s history, and are now on the verge of another record in the Lankan islands.
Lankans would eye Asia Cup win
The Lankan side, dating back to 2022, won the Asia Cup T20 title. This was Sri Lanka’s 6th title overall and their first title in the shortest format of the game. They are the second most successful team in the history of the Asia Cup with 6 titles to their name, only behind India, who have 8 titles to their name.
The Asia Cup 2025 returns with the shorter format, and the Lankans would look to prepare for the tournament, as they look to win again.
