RR vs KKR key battles:
Sunil Narine vs Maheesh Theekshana:
This is the battle that could set the tone for the remainder of the innings. KKR will be once again relying on Sunil Narine for an explosive start with the bat. The West Indies star got the start in the previous game against RCB and played a fine knock of 44 runs from just 26 balls.
He looked in good touch and will be eyeing another impactful knock with the bat. RR, on the other hand, would be hoping that Maheesh Theekshana keeps Narine in check. The Sri Lankan spinner dismissed Abhishek Sharma cheaply in the previous game and will be eyeing a similar outcome against Narine as well.
Sanju Samson vs Anrich Nortje:
While RR started their campaign with a loss, Sanju Samson managed to impress with the bat. The right-handed batsman gave RR a flying start by smashing 66 runs off just 37 balls. With form on his side, Samson will be eyeing another good start.
KKR would be hoping that the RR star does not last long at the crease. The onus will be on their fast-bowler Anrich Nortje to send back Samson quickly. Nortje did not play the first game but is expected to be a part of the playing eleven for the upcoming game. Samson has struggled against short deliveries in recent times and Nortje can exploit that weakness.
Dhruv Jurel vs Varun Chakravarthy:
Dhruv Jurel also impressed with the bat against SRH. The wicketkeeper-batsman played an impressive knock of 70 runs. He scored his runs off just 35 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes.
Jurel will be eyeing another good outing with the bat in the upcoming game. The onus to ensure that Jurel does not score big again will be on KKR’s spin spearhead Varun Chakravarthy.
The right-arm spinner had a forgettable game against RCB and he will be eyeing a better show against RR.
RR vs KKR Key Players:
RR – Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Wanindu Hasaranga will be the key players for RR.
KKR – Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Anrich Nortje will be the key players for KKR.
RR vs KKR Weather Report:
There is no forecast of rain during the game in Guwahati. The temperature is set to be in the mid-20s throughout the game.
Conclusion:
Both KKR and RR will be eyeing a much-needed win in the upcoming game to get the early momentum. While another defeat would certainly not derail their campaign, it could very well put them under pressure.
