India started off their chase of 229 runs quite well in the match against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma was at his aggressive best, and Shubman Gill happily played second fiddle to his skipper.
The Indian skipper kept smashing the Bangladesh bowlers all over the park and he was dismissed in the 10th over while trying to hit a boundary.
After Rohit’s dismissal, Kohli came out to the middle and he was unable to play a good innings. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel also failed to score big, and India were suddenly in trouble at 144/4.
Then, in the 37th over Bangladesh had a great chance to pick India’s fifth wicket, but they spilled it. On the second ball of the over, Taskin Ahmed bowled a length delivery to KL Rahul, who decided to slog at it. He dragged it off the inner half of the bat and the ball went straight to the fielder in the deep.
Jaker Ali, however, dropped an absolute sitter to give a lifeline to Rahul. As the camera panned towards Rohit Sharma, who was in the dressing room, he bursts into a wide smile.
The Indian skipper was very delighted, and he was seen saying something while pointing towards Jaker Ali. Notably, earlier on Axar Patel’s hat-trick ball, Rohit Sharma had dropped a sitter to give a reprieve to Jaker Ali.

How did India perform in their previous ODI match?
India entered into the match against Bangladesh on the back of a dominant showing against England, where they registered a 3-0 whitewash.
In the last ODI match of the series, India demolished England by a massive 142-run margin. While batting first, India lost skipper Rohit Sharma early, but Shubman Gill hit an incredible 112 off 102 balls, with 14 fours and 3 sixes.
Gill was involved in two vital stands with Virat Kohli (52 off 55) and Shreyas Iyer ( 78 off 64 balls) that laid the platform for the hosts to post a big total on the board. The middle-order batter, KL Rahul, capitalized on the momentum and scored a quick 40 off 29. Other lower-order batters chipped in with good runs as well to help their team finish with a total of 356 runs.
While defending, Indian bowlers never allowed the English team to get the momentum. Arshdeep Singh struck early, removing both openers within the first 10 overs. Harshit Rana and Axar Patel ran through the middle order with Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar cleaning up the tail.
Gus Atkinson played a late cameo (38 off 19) for his team, but that didn’t matter much and it just delayed the inevitable, as England got all out for 214 in just 34.2 overs.
