Ravindra Jadeja’s hilarious celebration goes viral
Since the start of Day 5 at Headingley in Leeds, Shubman Gill & Co. were trying very hard to get the ball changed as it was not providing enough help to the bowlers to get the breakthroughs.
The umpires, Chris Gaffaney and Paul Reiffel, however, rejected India’s request multiple times as they felt that the condition of the ball was pretty good and there was no need for a change.
Meanwhile, the Indian team didn’t give up, and their persistence to get the ball changed finally paid off ahead of the 28th over of the last innings.
As the umpires were checking the ball, it got stuck in the gauge, and the fourth umpire arrived in the middle with a box of replacement balls. India were finally given a new ball, and Ravindra Jadeja used this opportunity to celebrate in a hilarious manner. Ravindra Jadeja pumped his fist at the umpire Chris Gaffaney, who smiled and patted his back.

Ravindra Jadeja is a key element to this puzzle – Dinesh Karthik
Speaking on Sky Sports just before the start of the play on Day 5, Dinesh Karthik said that India need to be attacking in their approach. He said:
“They need to have an attacking mindset, they need to believe that 10 wickets on this pitch is purely possible with the skill set that they have, not wait for England to make the mistake of you know trying to play a big shot and get out.
“They need to believe and that will come a lot from Shubman Gill because he’s not just got one bowler, he’s got five to deal with and he needs to make the other four believe that day to day can make a massive impact on this game because each bowler we speak about has a role to play on a day like this.”
Dinesh Karthik added that the skipper, Shubman Gill, needs to keep the attacking field setup at the start to give his bowlers a chance to pick early wickets. He said:
“Look at the start he needs to be attacking. The one thing that you always see when a Zak Crawley and a Ben Duckett come out to bat is bat aggressively but yesterday they were sceptical. It could be the fact that they were at the fag end of their day so they didn’t want to do anything but generally they come out all guns blazing irrespective of the situation. Yesterday they were a little on the quieter side by their standards.
“Now today they got to wait and watch how they’re going to start but you need to be starting with three slips a gully and put pressure on England saying we are here to win as well. We are not just going to look at you scoring boundaries but we are here if you make a mistake we’ll get that wicket.”
Dinesh Karthik further highlighted the importance of Ravindra Jadeja on the final day, stating that the spinner needs to hold one end and allow Shubman Gill to rotate his pacers. He said:
“Jadeja is a key element to this puzzle, purely because if he can hold up an end then Gill can rotate the seamers from the Kirkstall Lane End, which is where the uneven bounce is coming from.”
