Nottingham Forest are now in the picture to sign a defender ahead of Borussia Dortmund this summer, but they will need to move swiftly to secure his signature, according to a report.
Forest’s summer transfer plans
Forest ended their two-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur in their last Premier League outing, which ensures they remain in a strong position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Should the Tricky Trees achieve that goal, however, they may need to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window in order to be competitive, and they are seemingly particularly keen on bolstering their attacking options.
Feyenoord forward Anis Hadj Moussa could be brought in out wide, with Nuno Espirito Santo perhaps seeking alternative options to Anthony Elanga, while an out-and-out striker is also of interest, with the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the shortlist.

Reinforcing the attack may be of key significance to Nuno, but there are also indications the manager could look to strengthen at the opposite end of the pitch, with a report from Sweden revealing Nottingham Forest are now in the picture to sign FC Nordsjælland defender Daniel Svensson (via Sport Witness).
Svensson is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, with the German club eager to sign him on a permanent basis, and there will be an obligation to do so if the Swede makes 15 appearances before the end of the season.
However, there is a belief Forest could challenge Dortmund for the left-back, should they move quickly, and he could well be available for an affordable fee, considering Nordsjælland requested a fee of €8.2m (£7m) for his services during the January transfer window.

“Machine” Svensson impressing in Germany
It is little wonder Dortmund want to sign the Stockholm-born defender on a permanent basis, given that he has established himself as a key player for the German side since his arrival, recently bagging his first goal for the club in the 3-2 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Former teammate Jeppe Tverskov has also been full of praise for the 23-year-old in the past, saying: “He is a machine. He has a strong body and can run a lot. During the time when we played almost every three days, there were many who played many minutes. The only difference was that, in every eternal fight, he had 13 kilometers in him. It is very impressive.”
Not only that, but scout Ben Mattinson has stated the Dortmund loanee is “composed on the ball”, while also capable of playing in a left central midfield role, showcasing his versatility.
Unfortunately for Forest, it appears as though Dortmund are well-positioned to win the race for Svensson, but if they are able to hijack the deal, there are plenty of indications that he could be a top signing.
