Popular winger Ben Stevenson is the latest player to depart Newcastle Falcons after signing a two-year contract with French side RC Vannes.
The 26-year-old made 98 appearances for the Falcons, including 60 in the Gallagher Premiership, in his nine years at the club.
A graduate of the club’s academy, the winger scored five tries in 15 league outings this season.
Falcons director of rugby Steve Diamond said: “Ben has been a great servant to Newcastle but has taken up an opportunity to play in France.
“We wish him all the best for his move, and thank him for his contribution during his time with us.”
Stenson joins a growing list of players leaving for pastures new amidst the ongoing uncertainty about the club’s finances. No update has been given on Red Bull’s proposed investment, and the club’s annual accounts are overdue.
Since December 2024, first-teamers Pedro Rubiolo (Bristol and Max Pepper (both Bristol), Ben Redshaw (Gloucester), Callum Chick (Northampton), Jamie Blamire (Leicester), Josh Bainbridge (Doncaster), Louis Brown (Worcester) and Jack Metcalf (unattached) have all moved on.
Metcalf has been on a month-long trial with Leeds Rhinos but is thought to be joining Stevenson in northern France, with Rouen his rumoured destination.
