Match Preview
Manchester United can still salvage their season with a deep run in the FA Cup and beating Fulham would book their place in the quarter-finals.
The Red Devils pulled off a hard-fought win against relegation rivals Ipswich on Wednesday night, despite being down to 10 men for the second half.
Head coach Ruben Amorim will be hoping to see his side build on the result and show some character as they welcome a much tougher opponent to Old Trafford.
Another motivator for the squad will be that winning the domestic cup is a route into Europe, particularly with there being next to no chance of doing that through the league standings.
However, Marco Silva’s Fulham are a much-improved side on last season and remain in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
They are currently ninth in the Premier League but have not reached a cup final in 50 years – likely a major motivator for the Cottagers.
There is no doubt they will be taking their trip to the North West very seriously and are more than capable of upsetting the falling giants.
Manchester United vs Fulham team news
As has been the case for a while now, United are without several key players.
Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo, Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans all remain out with injuries.
Patrick Dorgu has been added to the unavailable list after being sent off against Ipswich and will serve the first of his three-match ban.
Amorim and Alejandro Garnacho seemed to have a bit of an issue with each other following his early substitution against the Tractor Boys, and whether he starts this game is still up for debate.
For Fulham, Sasa Lukic will be available despite picking up his 10th yellow card, as that ban only applies in the Premier League.
But the Cottagers still do not have Kenny Tete, Harry Wilson or Reiss Nelson, who have long-term injuries.
Emile Smith Rowe also picked up an ankle knock recently, causing him to miss the last game against Wolves.
