It is unsure how the stadium will be funded, however, should everything go to plan, it will be the second biggest stadium in Europe behind the Nou Camp in Barcelona. Talking on Tuesday, Ratcliffe was asked what Man Utd can achieve in the proposed new stadium.
“I just think it will return to greatness. It will be a great football club again. Carrington, I think, will be best in class. So we’ll have one of the world’s best training facilities. Again, Foster has done a great job at Carrington, so I mean it’s quite sizeable.
“It’s £50 million we’ve spent on that building. So it’ll be a really impressive training facility that we have. There’ll be no player at Manchester United who can ever say, well, you know, it’s not as good as somewhere else. It’ll be as good as anywhere. The stadium needs to be the same.”

A new 100,000 capacity stadium will need to have some of the world’s best players representing the Red Devils, with Ruben Amorim‘s side falling behind in the Premier League. Ratcliffe himself also said that some players on the books at Old Trafford are not good enough and are overpaid.
“If you look at the players we are buying this summer, that we didn’t buy, we’re buying Antony, we’re buying Casemiro, we’re buying Onana, we’re buying Hojlund, we’re buying Sancho. These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we’ve inherited those things and have to sort that out. For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half his wages, we’re paying £17m to buy him in the summer.”
They have been linked with players from a number of European giants, including Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez and Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi. Now, an update has emerged on two Real Madrid players who could be on their way to Old Trafford.
Man Utd willing to sign two Real Madrid stars this summer
According to a report from Spain, Man Utd are willing to make a significant offer to sign Real Madrid duo Andriy Lunin and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Lunin, currently second choice at the Bernabeu to Thibaut Courtois, is seen as an immediate solution to Andre Onana, whereas Man Utd are ready to make an €80m (£67m) offer for Tchouameni.
The Frenchman, who has been called a “one man army” in the past, has also been linked with Liverpool and Man City over the past 12 months, and by the looks of things, a move to Manchester with United could be one to watch over the coming months.
It remains to be seen how much Lunin would cost, although there have been reports of a pending £33m bid, which would take deals for both, who are on a combined £275,000-per-week in Spain, to at least £100m.
