As they begin to set their sights on solving their striker problem, Liverpool have reportedly been contacted by the agent of one 13-goal star who could become a surprising solution this summer.
Liverpool offered shock summer move
The Reds may be champions-elect, but that doesn’t mean they’re without problems to solve this summer. Defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final proved that there’s still work to be done and an attack to overhaul when the window swings open.
On that front, the rumours have been coming thick and fast. Names such as Alexander Isak and even Harry Kane have threatened to steal the headlines in recent weeks and there’s no doubt that both would offer Arne Slot significant upgrades.
The rumours have, of course, arrived amid the struggles of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez. All three have failed to lead the line in emphatic fashion throughout the current campaign, often leaving Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah to find the goals.
If it’s not to be the likes of Isak and Kane, meanwhile, then it may well be a surprising solution that those at Anfield turn to this summer. According to Football Transfers, Liverpool have now been contacted by the agent of Moussa Sylla over a shock summer move from 2.Bundesliga side Schalke 04.
The striker, who came through Monaco’s youth set-up, has reportedly set his sights on playing at the top level, with his services also offered to Manchester United after an excellent campaign in Germany’s second division.

Liverpool could have done with an extra dimension in attack this season.
Michael Edwards has certainly been unorthodox with his spending in the past – often shopping in England’s bottom half or even in the Championship – but whether he takes a chance on Sylla this summer remains to be seen.
“Explosive” Sylla has earned top move
Even if it does not come courtesy of Liverpool, Sylla has certainly earned the chance to make a big move this summer. Whilst Schalke’s promotion ambitions are faltering, sitting as low as 11th, the 25-year-old has thrived – scoring 13 goals in all competitions.
It’s the type of form that many believed he was capable of last summer too, including former sporting director Marc Wilmots who told reporters: “With Moussa deciding to join us, we’ve gained the services of a striker with explosive pace, one that loves to get in behind and is generally just tricky to defend against.
“We see him as a potential key player, and his pace and agility will particularly help us when we have possession.”
At Anfield this summer, meanwhile, Liverpool must weigh up whether Sylla is worth taking a gamble on. Having watched on as Jota, Diaz and Nunez have struggled this season, Slot wouldn’t be absurd to suggest a more guaranteed option than Schalke’s inform man.
Whether it’s Sylla or another option, however, there’s no denying that the Reds need a solution to their striker problem this summer.
