Liverpool are on the verge of adding Milos Kerkez to their squad in a £40million transfer from Bournemouth.
The highly rated left-back is poised to make the switch to Anfield following two strong seasons with the Cherries.
Kerkez, 21, is expected to join the Premier League title holders, with Bournemouth moving to bring in Rennes full-back Adrien Truffert as his replacement.
The Hungarian international’s signing comes amid a major summer of investment for Liverpool, who are also nearing a record-breaking £116m deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.
In addition, the Merseyside club has already secured the services of Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen for £29.5m.
Originally born in Serbia, Kerkez launched his professional career at Hungarian side Gyor.

He later made a move to Italian giants AC Milan but failed to make a first-team appearance. In January 2022, he transferred to AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, where his career began to take off.
During the 2022-23 campaign, Kerkez played a key role as AZ finished fourth in the Eredivisie. He contributed five goals and seven assists across 52 matches.
That same season, AZ reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League, only to be eliminated by eventual champions West Ham United.
Kerkez joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2023, a time when Liverpool’s current sporting director Richard Hughes was still working for the South Coast club.
The full-back impressed during his debut Premier League season, appearing in every league match as Bournemouth achieved their best-ever finish – ninth place with a record 56 points. Kerkez chipped in with two goals and six assists.
To date, the young defender has earned 23 caps for Hungary and will now link up with international team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool.
His arrival raises questions over the future of Liverpool’s current left-backs. Andy Robertson has recently been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while Kostas Tsimikas may also be on the move.
Liverpool reportedly prefer to keep Robertson and allow Tsimikas to seek opportunities elsewhere, although they accept that the 31-year-old Scotland international could consider leaving in pursuit of more regular playing time.
