Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving is being sued for almost $400k after refusing to pay a health and wellness company for a family retreat over the summer.

Irving refused to pay $390k bill for family retreat which involved a tragic death

TMZ are reporting that the 32-year-old is being dragged to court by Elite Mind Solutions and their therapist Natasha McCartney for an unpaid bill of $390,710.

The plaintiffs allege that Irving arranged a retreat for friends and family where he initially told them around 50 or 60 people would attend – but that number ended up being closer to 150.

The lawsuit also details that someone tragically died at the event and Elite Mind Solutions performed crisis management services as well as grief counseling.

The company claims to have performed all of the therapeutic exercises and sessions as promised – even despite the much larger number of people that turned up – but when they sent Irving the bill, he refused to pay up.

Elite Mind Solutions are seeking to recoup all of the money they are owed by the eight-time All Star plus their legal fees and interest – which shouldn’t be a problem if successful as Irving is currently on a three-year, $126 million contract.

What happens next for Irving?

This story is a strange one and it’ll be interesting to hear Irving’s side. Could the tragic death as mentioned above have something to do with his refusal to cough up the bill he owes?

TMZ reported that they reached out to both Irving’s lawyer and representatives of the plaintiff’s camp, but neither party opted to respond to the matter.

This is the last thing Irving needs – following years of controversy by way of his beliefs in various conspiracy theories, an anti-semitic row and a COVID-19-related holdout, it seemed people were finally focusing on his game on the court.

He enjoyed a stellar season last year where he lifted the Western Conference title with the Mavericks, but his off-the-court issues look set to take center stage once again.
