The third Test between England and India at the iconic Lord’s is underway. Among the most talked-about things of the game is the presence of legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Chris Gayle, and Brett Lee in the stands. In between, there was huge speculation that Indian cricket stalwart Virat Kohli might also attend the Test match. Regarding this, former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has voiced his opinion on the issue.
Dinesh Karthik keeps fans guessing over Virat Kohli’s Lord’s attendance
Talking about the possibility of Kohli attending the match, Karthik said he was unsure if Kohli would come, citing that he has two young kids and is likely occupied with daddy duties. He mentioned that Tendulkar and his wife Anjali were present at the venue, as they live nearby. It is a well-known fact that Kohli has permanently shifted to London with his wife Anushka Sharma and their two children, daughter Vamika and son Akaay, for a quieter, private life.
“Don’t know if Virat Kohli will be coming to the game. Two young kids. Daddy duties. Sachin Tendulkar is here. His wife Anjali. They live around the corner here as well,” Karthik said during the commentary on Sky Sports.

Joe Root and Ollie Pope stabilize England after India’s early wicket blitz
With the series tied 1-1, the third match started on a similar note, with both sides sharing the first session on Day 1. After winning the toss, Ben Stokes chose to bat first, citing some assistance for the bowlers. The English openers started well with a crisp 43-run opening stand. However, Nitish Kumar Reddy brought India back into the game by taking back-to-back wickets in the same over, removing both openers. By lunch, England had scored 83 runs for the loss of both openers. Joe Root and Ollie Pope steadied the England innings after the quick breakthroughs. The pitch has shown significant movement, with the ball swinging, some deliveries keeping low, and a few gaining extra bounce. With such a strong bowling arsenal, India will look to strike early and target dangerous batsmen like Root as soon as possible.
