The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was host to the GT vs RR match on Wednesday (9th April). The 23rd game of the league took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and it saw the home side winning the match by 58 runs.
Asked to bat, Gujarat Titans had a poor start to innings as skipper Shubman Gill (2) was back in the third over, having scored just two runs off three balls. But after that, Sai Sudharsan (82) and Jos Buttler (36) ensured that the home side got some crucial runs in the powerplay, adding 80 runs for the second wicket.
After Buttler got out, Shahrukh Khan (36) supported Sudharsan well as they put on a 62-run stand for the third wicket. Sudharsan batted till the 19th over, while in the end, Rahul Tewatia (24 *) played a vital cameo to take Gujarat Titans to a total of 217 for six.
Rajasthan Royals didn’t have a great start as Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) got out early to leave their team at 12 for two. After that, skipper Sanju Samson (41) and Riyan Parag (26) steadied the ship with their 48-run stand.
Gujarat Titans kept taking wickets at regular intervals and took command of the game, leaving Rajasthan Royals at 119 for six. Shimron Hetmyer (52) fought hard for his team, but the target was too much for him to chase. Gujarat bundled out Rajasthan for 159 runs to win the game by 58 runs.

After GT vs RR Match 23 – IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans climbed to the top of the table and displaced Delhi Capitals to the second spot. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings are at 3rd and 4th followed by Lucknow Super Giants at 5th. KKR, RR, MI, CSK and SRH are next.
