Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano hailed Paris Saint-Germain “the best team in the world” after his side fell to a 4-0 defeat to the European champions in the Club World Cup Round of 16.
PSG took the lead after six minutes through Joao Neves before the 20-year-old Portuguese midfielder added a second in the 39th minute.
It sparked a devastating nine minutes for the League 1 winners, who scored two more before the break courtesy of a Tomas Aviles own goal and an Achraf Hakimi tap-in.
The game was all but over as a contest by half-time after Luis Enrique’s men produced what was, at times, a footballing masterclass against their MLS opponents.
Miami showed a bit more spirit in the second-half but even Lionel Messi, playing against a former team for the first time in his career, could to little to prevent the PSG onslaught.

And Mascherano acknowledged at full-time that his side were up against one of the world’s finest teams.
“It was a very, very great experience for us,” the Miami boss said.
“We were working hard, playing well during this tournament. We knew that today was going to be very, very difficult because they [PSG] are probably the best team in the world.”
Meanwhile, Enrique praised his players but insisted there was still room for improvement.
“I have to say [it is a] great feeling,” said the PSG head coach. “I think we started the match almost perfect, trying to control the match, and create a lot of chances.
“I think we were great in the first-half. In the second-half it was different. Less energy and they [Inter Miami] could score a goal but I am happy.”
“I am happy with all the players, with the mentality and attitude. We need to improve like always because that’s professional football. But I am happy.”
PSG will take on either Flamengo or Bayern Munich in the last eight on 5 July.
