Harshit Rana has been added to the India squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England, according to reports.
The right-arm pacer was in England with the India A side. While the rest of the players were asked to leave for India after the intra-squad game, Harshit Rana was asked to stay back and join the senior team. Rana played in the first unofficial Test against England Lions and picked up a solitary wicket.

According to Jagran News’ Abhishek Tripathi, Team India have decided to add Rana to the Test squad. The addition has further bolstered India’s pace attack that already has the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh.
The report further stated that Rana has been added to the squad because Bumrah is unlikely to play all the five Tests. As a result, the team-management wanted another bowling option in the Test squad.
The news outlet also reported that India are likely to play the first Test with five bowlers. The team is expected to field four proper pacers and one spinner. In that case, the playing eleven is unlikely to have any all-rounder.

Team India’s record in Leeds:
The much-awaited five-match Test series is scheduled to begin on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. India do not have a very promising record at the venue so far and will look to improve their record with a win in the series-opener.
India and England have played 7 Tests at the venue so far. Out of those 7 Tests, England have won 4 while the tourists have emerged victorious in only 2. However, India’s record in Leeds in recent games is quite promising. They have won two of the last four Tests in Leeds in addition to drawing one.
