India to Face Pakistan Despite Diplomatic Tensions Between the Two Nations
12 teams are divided into two groups of six. Australia, South Africa, India, and Pakistan, along with two teams that will advance through the global qualifying tournament, have been placed in Group 1.
Australia are the most decorated side in the competition’s history, while South Africa finished runners-up in the previous two editions. India are set to face Pakistan, despite recent diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
Defending champions New Zealand, hosts England, 2016 winners West Indies, and Sri Lanka have been included in Group 2. The remaining two spots will be filled by teams qualifying through the global tournament.
Both groups feature a mix of former champions, recent finalists, and fierce rivalries. The qualifying tournament will finalize the 12-team lineup for the 2026 event in England and Wales.
