The three-Test series between the Lions and Wallabies kicks off in Brisbane on Saturday – here is everything you need to know
The British & Irish Lions face Australia in the first Test of the iconic touring series on Saturday in Brisbane.
Andy Farrell’s side started off the 2025 edition with a loss to Argentina in Dublin, but have bounced back incredibly well to win every single game in Australia so far.
However, while beating Super Rugby clubs and an invitational team will have filled them with confidence, the Wallabies will provide a much sterner challenge in the Test match arena.
With Tomos Williams released from the squad due to injury, Ospreys flanker Jac Morgan is the only Welsh player left in the collective.
Despite Morgan’s electric performances for the Lions so far this summer, Farrell has decided to go for England international Tom Curry at openside, with Tadhg Beirne on the blind and Jack Conan at eight. Morgan has not been selected on the bench either.
After a consistent flow of midweek and weekend games, the Lions have enjoyed a full week to prepare for their opening clash against the Wallabies.
Joe Schmidt has decided to hand Tom Lynagh his first start for Australia at fly-half, a bold decision that has dominated the headlines Down Under.
He follows in the footsteps of his dad, Michael, who faced the Lions in 1989.
Here’s everything you need to know about the match.
