The agent of one of Fulham’s strikers recently met with Chelsea officials, with the Blues on the hunt for a new forward, according to a report.
Chelsea edge Fulham at Craven Cottage
Fulham and Chelsea faced off at Craven Cottage on Sunday, each aiming to strengthen their push for European qualification. The home side, having claimed victory in the reverse fixture back in December, drew first blood – Alex Iwobi opening the scoring in the 20th minute with a composed finish.
Fulham maintained their lead for over an hour, but teenager Tyrique George came off the bench to level the scores with his first Premier League goal, finishing confidently with a sharp first-time effort.
Then, echoing the dramatic ending of December’s clash—when Fulham scored two late goals to seal a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge — it was Chelsea who flipped the script this time, with Pedro Neto unleashing a stunning half-volley from the edge of the box in the 93rd minute.
Speaking after the defeat, Fulham boss Marco Silva said he thinks a “draw would have been a fair result”.
“The second-half was not at our best level. The speech at half-time was clear for us to start the second-half like we started the first one. We tried to be on the front foot to boost ourselves, the crowd and unfortunately, we didn’t. I really believe that the result is harsh, with the way we conceded the second goal. I think the draw would have been a fair result.”
Muniz Chelsea bound?
One notable absentee in Fulham’s defeat to Chelsea was in-form striker Rodrigo Muniz, who has scored four goals in his last six Premier League appearances and the winner in that victory at Stamford Bridge in December.
Manager Marco Silva confirmed that Muniz missed the match due to an injury sustained in last week’s game against Bournemouth. However, his absence came amid unexpected speculation linking him with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea’s hierarchy recently “entertained” Muniz’s agent at the club’s headquarters.
While Phillips didn’t clarify the purpose of the meeting, he noted that the agent of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike – another reported Chelsea target – has also been welcomed at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.
Muniz now has eight Premier League goals this season, which is an impressive return considering he’s also only started eight top flight games this term.
Described as “horrible” to play against by league legend Alan Shearer, he now just needs one more in Fulham’s last five games to equal his total from last season.
