Adam Ashley-Cooper, Drew Mitchell and Matt Giteau recounted an altercation with local teenagers in the buildup to last week’s clash between Australia and Wales in Cardiff.
Speaking on the For The Love Of Rugby podcast with veteran England scrumhalf Ben Youngs, the former Wallabies internationals detailed the incident that unfolded in a Nando’s restaurant this past Saturday night.
“We’d just watched England v South Africa and went for a cheeky Nando’s before the next game,” Mitchell began. “The place was packed, and this guy comes over, yelling, ‘Where’s the f*****g medium sauce?’
“I told him there’s a line, but he just got aggressive. Next thing, his mate clocks me from the side.”

Ashley-Cooper added, “I asked the guy, ‘How old are you?’ He flexed and said, ‘I’m 16!’ The security guards stepped in and kicked them out, but Drew was worried. ‘Make sure they’re not waiting to shank us,’ he told them.”
Giteau chimed in, “I was like, ‘Drew, we don’t need this.’ Imagine it in the papers: ‘Mitchell fights a 16-year-old!’”
The trio, now part of the Kick Offs and Kick Ons podcast, laughed about the bizarre encounter. “I’ve never been in a fight or thrown a punch,” Mitchell admitted, to which Giteau quipped, “You still haven’t!”
Mitchell concluded, “What a way to start the tour – a Nando’s brawl with teenagers!”
