Former England and Bath winger Semesa Rokoduguni has signed a new deal with Doncaster Knights in the RFU Championship.
The four-cap international marked his return to English rugby last summer, joining the Knights after two years with US Montauban in France’s Pro D2. That came after a hugely successful decade with Bath, scoring 71 tries across 194 appearances.
Despite turning 38 this summer, the Fijian-born winger has enjoyed a successful season in Yorkshire, crossing the line six times, and has staved off talk of retirement for another year.
Doncaster currently sit in sixth place in the league ahead of their next match against Caldy on May 3, the first of their final five games of the season.
“To have a player of Roko’s calibre available to the club is a real luxury and one we don’t take lightly,” said head of recruitment Matt Harland.
“Roko is another player who you can tell loves the game and wants to give back as much as he can. Which is something he does in abundance, taking time to speak with younger players and helping them develop and improve.”
“We are very privileged that he has decided to stay with us for another year and help the club continue its journey.”
Consultant director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan added: “We are absolutely delighted that Rocco has re-signed, his quality and experience is so valuable in setting the standards, not only during games, but also during training.
“He is an outstanding role model for the younger players and we have really seen the benefit of having his experience around the group.”
