Chelsea captain Enzo Fernández is believed to be a serious target for European champions Real Madrid, and his stance on a potential move to the Bernabeu has now come to light ahead of the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid set sights on signing Fernandez from Chelsea
Reports in Spain have indicated that the £180,000-per-week midfielder is high on Real’s agenda for next season, following an impressive campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The west Londoners are already preparing a serious assault.
Fernandez is now a mainstay for Enzo Maresca following an initially difficult start to life in west London, with the Argentine World Cup winner now slowly justifying his £107 million price tag, which was then a club-record fee.
The former Benfica sensation boasts five goals and nine assists in all competitions this season, and Maresca has utilised the player in a variety of midfield roles, including as a pivot, traditional centre-midfielder and even in attacking areas.

Fernandez has earned praise for his performances throughout 2024/2025, especially from Chelsea’s manager, who has pinpointed the South American as a leader in his Blues squad.
“He behaved as a leader, and he is doing top, fantastic,” said Maresca about Fernandez’s performance against Southampton recently.
“For sure Enzo has taken a step forward in that sense. He is showing how good a leader he is, how good he is on the ball, how good he is off the ball and we are delighted with him.”
However, his stellar showings are thought to be turnings heads at Real, with Galacticos president Florentino Perez earmarking him as a potential option to reinforce Carlo Ancelotti’s own midfield.
Real have reportedly set their sights on signing Fernandez from Chelsea, and TEAMtalk now have an update on how the player himself feels about joining them, not to mention who BlueCo could sign if he were to depart.
Fernandez very interested in Real Madrid move as Chelsea eye Tchouameni
According to their information, while he isn’t exactly clamoring for an exit and is believed to be happy in London, it is believed that Fernandez is very interested in joining Real Madrid from Chelsea.
Maresca’s side would demand a huge fee to part company with one of their most crucial assets, which Real would be unwilling to pay, but there is a possibility that both teams could orchestrate a swap deal.
Indeed, France international Aurelien Tchouameni has admirers at Chelsea, and this report suggests that Maresca could bring in the £67 million midfielder as a replacement for Fernandez if they do decide to negotiate an exchange.
This one could have legs, as Real president Perez has recently refused to rule out the possibility of letting Tchouameni leave.
“We don’t want to close the door on anyone,” said Perez in January, when asked about the 25-year-old’s future and if Real would sanction a sale. “If he wants to leave, we’ll negotiate.”
The 25-year-old Real mainstay is quite a similar player to Fernandez, able to operate in his positions, so he could be an adept replacement if it were to head in that direction.
