  • The Roses will be without a key duo for their Twickenham clash v South Africa
  • Tom Curry and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso have been ruled out with head injuries
  • The pair were withdrawn during England’s weekend defeat against Australia

England have been hit by more disruption after being forced to rule Tom Curry and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso out of the clash with South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday.

Feyi-Waboso joins Curry in being forced to stand down due to a head injury sustained in the 42-37 defeat to Australia.

Sam Underhill or Ben Curry are likely to be considered as the openside replacement for Curry, while Ollie Sleightholme is best-placed to take over from Feyi-Waboso, unless a significant change of direction sees Freddie Steward or Elliot Daly come into contention.

Coach Steve Borthwick has added Ted Hill and Tom Roebuck to his training squad.

Whatever decisions are made, stuttering England are in a precarious position and thankfully there were no hollow excuses after the loss to the Wallabies.

‘There are some painful experiences right now,’ said Borthwick. ‘I don’t want to be stood here saying we’ll learn, because we are desperate to win games.

‘While we have been competing with some of the best teams in the world, and the margins are tight, we want wins.’
