Cardiff showed their class in fighting back to overtake and then subdue the touring Cheetahs in the round 2 EPCR Challenge Cup clash in Wales on Saturday.
Three second-half tries saw Cardiff take the lead and cruise to a 26-10 win against the Cheetahs at Cardiff Arms Park.
Cardiff started strong, opening the scoring in the first quarter through winger Josh Adams. The Cheetahs responded through No 9 Ruben de Haas and a penalty from Ethan Wentzel gave the visitors a 10-5 lead going into the break.
The Cheetahs are still looking for their first win in this season’s competition after settling for a draw to Perpignan in round 1.
For Cardiff, Callum Sheedy kicked four points to complement Adams’ brace, winger Tom Bowen’s third quarter finish, and Irish referee Eoghan Cross awarding the hosts a penalty try in the fourth quarter.
The Cheetahs will be out of action until the return of the Challenge Cup in January when they host Zebre Parma at the NRCA Stadium in round 3.
