Jamie Carragher was not impressed by Marc Cucurella, labelling the Spain full-back “embarrassing”, after his two slips handed Tottenham an early 2-0 lead over Chelsea this afternoon.
Cucurella seemingly had the wrong studs on his boots after he twice lost his footing on the turf and went to ground. The first time saw him lose possession to Brennan Johnson, who crossed for Dominic Solanke to score.
The second slip saw the ball eventually fall to Dejan Kulusevski and he slotted into the bottom right-hand corner.
After the second goal, Cucurella sprinted over to the touchline to get some boots with a longer stud, to which former Liverpool defender Carragher said: “Cucurella’s coming to the bench, don’t blame anyone else – it’s your own fault son! Who’s he blaming, the kitman? Absolute schoolboy stuff. Embarrassing.
“He slips again. Look at him shrugging his shoulders. Did he not do a warm-up?”

Jadon Sancho pulled one back for Chelsea in an absorbing opening 45 minutes that also saw Cristian Romero limp off early on for a Tottenham side that was able to welcome back Micky van de Ven from injury.
