The Blitzboks came back to beat France in the dramatic final and clinch their first Cape Town Sevens gold medal since 2015.
France hit the gas early, winning the ball through an explosive counter-ruck with Celian Pouzelgues touching down to open the scoring. Quickfire tries from Donavan Don and Zain Davids gave the Blitzboks the lead before Varian Pasquet crossed the whitewash in the final seconds to make it 14-14 at the break.

Shilton van Wyk collected an excellent grubber kick from Dewald Human to score in the corner and put the Blitzboks 21-14 ahead. Van Wyk had a hand in South Africa’s fourth, releasing David Brits on the outside, who finished with a theatrical dive out wide.
Despite being a number down after Siviwe Soyizwapi was sent to the bin for a tackle off the ball, the Blitzboks held strong to claim a 26-14 victory against France, earning their first gold medal at the Cape Town Sevens in nine years.
