Gloucester centre Chris Harris’ club next season has been confirmed, with the Scotland international making the move to West Country rivals Bath on a one-year deal, as reported by RugbyPass.
It had been well documented that the 2021 British and Irish Lions will leave Kingsholm when his contract runs out at the end of the season, but his new destination has now been confirmed.
The 34-year-old will provide cover in the midfield for Ollie Lawrence, who continues to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon sustained during the Guinness Six Nations this year.
Harris is set to start at outside centre for the Cherry and Whites on Saturday against Northampton Saints in round 18 of the Gallagher Premiership. With Gloucester sat in fifth- place in the league, this could very well be his final outing for the club, or at least at home.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join Bath and get to play with some great friends and great talent,” Harris said.
“The culture translates on the pitch and I’m excited to get started.”
Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan added: “We are very excited that Chris will be joining us on injury dispensation for Ollie.
“Chris is a leader, and an excellent all-round player who wants to add to our fourth-year journey.
“I believe Chris’ best is yet to come and he will fit in very well with our family-first environment.”
