
Australia National Cricket Team skipper Steve Smith has expressed his confidence in Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar Azam to regain his form in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He called the right-hander a very skillful player, adding that he is hopeful of him scoring runs.
Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar Azam has been going through a rough patch. Things have not been right for him as he has bagged consistent failures, which has caused people to criticize him a lot, and even his place in the team is being questioned.

Babar Azam, ever since he has been asked to open the innings, has looked torrid with the bat. He failed in the tri-series against the South Africa National Cricket Team and the New Zealand National Cricket Team and also failed to start the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on a high note.
Babar Azam, in the first game against New Zealand, looked torrid with the bat. In the chase of 320 runs, he slammed a half-century but it came at a very slow strike. He slammed 64 runs but couldn’t take his team home and it saw many fans and pundits lashing out at him.

With Babar Azam under the pump, Steve Smith has backed the Pakistan National Cricket Team batter to regain his form in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He said that a batter not scoring runs for some time is part of the game. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Babar Azam is a quality player. He’s had a really good career so far. He’s got all the time in the world, and whenever he plays, he’s got a solid technique. He’s also got a good head on his shoulders. He hasn’t scored as many runs as he would have liked in the last bit. Don’t worry, he’s a wonderful player. I hope he will regain his form soon.”

Australia will be beginning their campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the game against the England National Cricket Team. The match between the two arch-rivals will be taking place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday (21st February).
Steve Smith talked about the preparations for the game, saying that they are very much relaxed and have prepared well. He admitted missing big players will leave a void but they are doing their preparations. He also called England a good team, saying that they will name their XI at toss. He elaborated:
“We are pretty much relaxed and preparing for tomorrow’s match. Although some of the big players are not playing in this event, we are doing our preparation. England is a good team, especially in white-ball cricket, we know what to do in the encounter against them. We will announce our playing XI at the toss.”
Steve Smith also talked about Australia’s success in the ICC events, saying that they handle pressure well and that’s why they have been successful. He asks talked about the Pakistan’s hospitality and added:
“I don’t know about the success mantra of the Australian team in ICC tournaments; I think our team handles pressure very well in this kind of tournament. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is beautiful, and the facilities and dressing rooms are top-notch. Pakistan’s hospitality is very good, and the people and food here are amazing.”
