Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has launched a scathing attack on Babar Azam after the hosts suffered an embarrassing 120-run loss to West Indies in the second and final Test to share the trophy at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.
Babar Azam could only manage one run off five balls in the first innings and was dismissed for 31 off 67 balls in the second innings in the recently concluded Multan Test. The seasoned batter’s failure to convert starts into big scores played a key role in Pakistan’s 120-run loss to the West Indies.

Gudakesh Motie played a remarkable innings of 55 runs off 87 balls in the first innings, which played a key role in the West Indies’ historic win over the Pakistani team in the Multan Test. Basit hailed Motie’s batting skills and suggested Babar learn from the young West Indies. He believes that he should never stop learning and improving his game irrespective of his stature.

Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel: “Babar Azam needs to learn batting from Motie. How to go front on the ball, which is front and back on the ball, which is back. It doesn’t mean that you won’t learn if you are a big player. The learning process should keep going on. Motie batted the best in this Test.”
Meanwhile, Basit Ali has described Pakistan’s shocking 120-run loss to West Indies as a humiliating defeat. He couldn’t believe how such an underdog team featuring unknown players from the West Indies could come out on top and left Pakistan stunned, saying it was a huge embarrassment for the country.

The former Pakistan women’s coach has also bluntly dismissed any need for a post-mortem analysis of the game, as people often accuse him of doing it just for views. However, Basit has insisted that he didn’t care about those accusations, as everyone has the right to voice their opinions, and his job is to speak the truth.
Basit signed off by saying, “The B team, C team, unknown players team, unknown bowlers, and unknown batters West Indies team has beaten Pakistan by 120 runs. Win-loss keeps happening. I am not going to do any post mortem because people think we do it for views. Let people think what they want. People will tell things; their work is to tell things.”
Notably, Pakistan’s defeat in the recent Multan has dropped them to the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table, while West Indies climbed to 8th place. Pakistan’s PCT percentage has fallen to 27.98, whereas the West Indies’ has risen to 28.21.
