Axar Patel engages in a hilarious clash with Avesh Khan
The DC skipper Axar won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. He himself opened the bowling for his team and surprisingly bowled four overs on the trot.
Axar Patel finished his 4-over spell within seven overs of the innings to avoid the match-ups with Lucknow Super Giants’ left-handed batsmen – Nicholas Pooran, David Miller, and Rishabh Pant.
Axar also showcased a great batting performance in the second innings and played with a great strike rate. He looked in a fun mood and smashed the bowlers all over the park.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel was engaged in a hilarious banter with Avesh Khan in the 13th over of the innings. As the pacer was returning after bowling a delivery, Axar intentionally collided with Avesh, and the duo shared a big laugh and also had a small chat.

Axar Patel has been really good – Donovan Ferreira
Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman Donovan Ferreira, speaking ahead of the match to host broadcasters, said that the messaging from the team management has been very clear and lauded Axar Patel for his leadership. He elaborated:
“(Message from the coaching staff) Firstly, it’s good to see KP (Kevin Pietersen) back in the house. He was out for a vacation. You know, coming off a loss, it’s important for us to get the momentum back. It’s important to learn from our mistakes and checking what we have done well throughout the tournament. Going into the second half of the tournament, it’s important to get the win today.
“I think the messaging has been very clear. The coaching staff puts a lot of trust in the players. They have left the ball in our court. They haven’t forced much upon us. Axar has been really good. The messaging has been the same throughout. We are trying not to get too high or not get too low. We are trying to stay humble. Focus on the next game, learn from the mistakes we did in the previous game.”
Donovan Ferreira further said that the Lucknow Super Giants are a good team and their top order has been on fire. He said:
“(On LSG) Obviously, their batting has been quite good. You know their top three have scored a lot of runs. To strike early is quite important. And then obviously, assessing the conditions because it’s an away venue for us. So, it’s important to throw the first punch and also play smart cricket and take advantage when we are on top of the game.”
He also talked about his role in the Delhi Capitals, saying that he has to play in the end overs as an impact player.
“(Role in DC team) Obviously, being an impact player at the end of the innings is quite tough. Just try to stay as calm as possible. Try and make a big impact no matter how many balls there are. So, yeah, just be very clear and be positive and if it comes off, it comes off. I have put in a lot of work behind the scenes and trained very well. So, now just hope it comes off in games,” he said.
