Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli faced another health scare, as he was admitted to Akriti Hospital in Thane after his health deteriorated on Saturday (December 21) night. He is currently reported to be stable but remains in critical condition.
Recently, Kambli, who has faced multiple health issues in recent years, made a rare public appearance at the unveiling of Ramakant Achrekar’s statue at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. More details about the 52-year-old’s condition are awaited.

Vinod Kambli hospitalized after health deteriorates
A report from the news agency IANS reads: “Cricketer Vinod Kambli’s condition deteriorated again, leading to his admission at Akriti Hospital in Thane late Saturday night. His condition is now stable but remains critical.”

It is being said that Kambli underwent a CT scan and other tests at Akriti Hospital in Thane and told the doctor he was suffering from urine issues and had recently come out of rehab. Kambli is reportedly out of danger now, but he is still getting treatment in the Thane Hospital.
1983 World Cup winners promise to help Vinod Kambli
After Vinod Kambli’s recent health issues came to light during an event earlier this month, members of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team extended their support. Even the former Indian captains Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar both offered their help but put a condition in front of Kambli, as the former batter would have to undergo rehabilitation to receive their support.

Meanwhile, Kambli has shared details about his ongoing health struggles. The former Indian batter revealed that he had been dealing with a severe urinary problem, which caused him significant distress. Last month, Kambli’s condition worsened, leading to him collapsing.
Kambli’s son, Jesus Cristiano, was there to support him, along with his wife and daughter. He was later advised by doctors to be hospitalized for treatment. Kambli also mentioned that he had two heart surgeries in 2013, during which Sachin Tendulkar provided him with financial help.
Vinod Kambli said in an interaction on Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel: “I was suffering from a urine problem. It was just flowing. My son, Jesus Cristiano, picked me up and brought me back to my feet. My daughter, who is 10 years old, and my wife came to help me. This happened one month ago. My head started spinning; I collapsed and fell down. The doctor told me to get admitted.”
Kambli further said during the interaction, “I’m ready to go for rehab. I want to go there because I don’t fear anything. My family is with me. Ajay Jadeja is a very good friend of mine. He came to meet me and said, ‘Come on, get up.’ A lot of people have called me lately. Everyone saw me. Definitely, BCCI will help. Abey Kuruvilla is with BCCI; he is in touch with me, and he is also in touch with my wife.”
Notably, Kambli played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India during his career spanning nine years. He scored four centuries in Test cricket, including two double centuries. Kambli was the first Indian to achieve back-to-back double centuries in Test cricket.
