Winger Mack Hansen didn’t hold back in his criticism of the referee and TMO after Connacht’s 20-12 defeat to Leinster in Dublin on Saturday.
Hansen felt six penalties awarded to Leinster by referee Chris Busby in the first 20 minutes prevented Connacht from getting into the game, and that Busby only consulted with TMO Mark Patton when the home crowd reacted to replays on the big screen.
Connacht were also aggrieved that while officials opted not to punish Leinster centre Jordie Barrett for making head contact with opposite number Bundee Aki in the first half, Connacht winger Shane Jennings was yellow-carded for a late tackle on scrumhalf Luke McGrath after a TMO review.
This is the video of the Barrett hit on Aki.
Clear contact his shoulder to Aki’s head.
Given how long the officials spent reviewing the Gud McCarthy incident it was a real surprise this wasn’t even looked at. pic.twitter.com/G3XPC8tql5 https://t.co/Op5C0p0Wf0— Overthehillprop (@Overthehillprop) December 22, 2024
Extraordinary post-match unload from Mack Hansen 🗣️
“I’m not going to change,” Mack told me, earlier this year. “I just say what’s going on in my head. Sometimes, it doesn’t always work. It’s who I am, though, so I’ll keep it going.”pic.twitter.com/cMYuGYQ4qS
