The Wales scrum-half pulled up after scoring his second try for the Lions
Tomos Williams handed the Lions a big scare after the scrum-half pulled up injured in the process of scoring a try against Western Force.
The Gloucester star was handed a starting berth by Andy Farrell against the Perth-based side on Saturday after a bright cameo off the bench in Dublin last week.
And Farrell was rewarded in his selection, with Williams scoring two tries for the tourists.
Unfortunately for Williams and Farrell, the Welshman was injured in the process of scoring his second, dotting down in acrobatic fashion after good combination play with Mack Hansen.
The Irishman and Williams exchanged passes to put the latter through in the corner – but Williams immediately pulled up in his celebration, clutching his left hamstring.
There will be a collective hope that it is nothing more than a slight strain.
England international Will Greenwood expressed concern in the commentary box, saying: “I’m just hoping Tom Williams is OK. Rob Howley, 1997, right in amongst it, did his shoulder against the Sharks.
“And a hamstring…. ooooh…. fingers crossed for him.”
Sam Warburton added: “Firstly you take no chances, especially with fast and explosive players like Tomos, get him off straight away.
“If he’s going to be limping like that, you’re looking like he’s going to miss next week, the midweek game for certain.”
He added: “Right call to get Tomos off, take no chances.”
Williams was replaced by Alex Mitchell just after scoring, which happened in the 49th minute.
The former Cardiff Rugby number nine was seen on the sidelines having his left hamstring massaged by the Lions’ medical team,
