Tony de Zorzi will be partnered by Matthew Breetzke, who is expected to feature in the first match in Bulawayo.
The duo will look to make the most of the opportunity that they have got in the absence of senior players like Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma.
Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi would want other batters to make a significant contribution to post a big total on the board.
Having said that, South Africa is facing the same problem as Zimbabwe with the amount of inexperience in the middle order of both teams.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Dewald Brevis, David Bedingham, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Wiaan Mulder, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Keshav Maharaj (c), Corbin Bosch
The opening pair will be followed by a young and inexperienced middle order, which is made up of talented batters like Dewald Brevis and wicketkeeper batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
The onus of run scoring in the middle order will be on David Bedingham and Wiaan Mulder, both of whom made handy contributions either with the bat or ball in the WTC final.
The lower middle order will be taken care of by Kyle Verreynne and Keshav Maharaj, who has been appointed as the captain of he team for this particular series.
South Africa will also have the services of fast bowling all rounder Corbin Bosch who can add valuable runs to the team’s total.
Bowlers: Codi Yusuf, Kwena Maphaka
South Africa is expected to go in the Bulawayo Test with an inexpierenced bowling attack including names likeCodi Yusuf, Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch.
The trio will be supported by Wiaan Mulder, who is the most experienced fast bowler in the squad, and will look to put his best foot forward as a fast bowling all-rounder.
The visiting spin bowling department will be handled by the captain, Keshav Maharaj
One of the decisions that Maharaj will have to make regarding the team combination is the number of fast bowlers that will be suitable on a wicket which has traditionally been on the drier side.
It would be interesting to see who would come in as the second spinner if the Proteas decides to go with the combination of two fast bowlers and two spinners in the playing XI.
