
West Indies cricketer Shamar Joseph has been named in serious allegations involving sexual misconduct, according to Kaieteur News. A young woman from Berbice has reportedly accused the player of rape, while other women, including one teenager, have alleged sexual assault and inappropriate behavior.
The West Indies kicked off their new ICC World Test Championship (WTC) campaign with a strong showing in the opening Test against Australia in Barbados. Shamar Joseph made the most of the bowling-friendly conditions, picking up four wickets in the first innings and adding another in the second innings.

According to a report by Kaieteur News, the woman at the center of the case struggled with repeated questioning by various officers within the Guyana Police Force. The process, described as emotionally exhausting, led her to abruptly end an official interview due to mental distress.
The woman has since been hospitalized, overwhelmed by the ordeal and feeling ignored by the system. As of the latest update, she remains under medical care.
He Took Her to a House – Alleged Victim’s Mother Speaks Out
Speaking to Kaieteur News, the family of the alleged victim stated that efforts are being made to cover up the sexual assault, which allegedly occurred on March 3, 2023, at a residence in New Amsterdam, Berbice. The victim was 18 years old at the time.
“She trusted him,” the mother stated.
“She called me and said, ‘Mom, I’m going out with (name provided), I’ll be home by a certain time.’ He took her to a house in (area provided) where several men were seen hanging out in the yard. She said after seeing other people there, she felt safe. But then he asked her to come upstairs to get something. That’s when it happened,” the mother recounted.
