Coming into the 2024-25 season, the Brooklyn Nets were projected to be a bottom-five team in the East. Through 24 games, the team is 10-14 and is winning more than expected. Over the last two seasons, the Nets have parted ways with several key players. In return, they’ve got a haul of first-round picks in future NBA drafts.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Nets are open to trading three key players ahead of the deadline in 2024-25. That includes Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Dennis Schroder. All three players are starters for Brooklyn this season. Charania noted that the Warriors are a team that has an interest in all three players. We’ll see what Nets GM Sean Marks has in store.

The Nets are playing better than most anticipated in 2024-25. That’s led to several teams having interest in some of Brooklyn’s key players. Nearly all players are available for trade except for SG Cam Thomas who leads the team in scoring this season. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the Nets could have Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Dennis Schroder all available for trade. After Cam Thomas, Johnson, Finney-Smith, and Schroder are the next highest scorers per game for the Nets.
Brooklyn would be losing the top talent on their roster if they parted ways with all three players. Johnson is averaging a career-high (18.8) points per game for the Nets. His (.434) three-point percentage is the best of his career. Dennis Schroder’s (18.6) points per game is his best since the 2017-18 season. Finney-Smith’s (10.6) points per game is also the second-highest of his career. All three are playing well for Brooklyn in 2024-25. That’s drawn interest from a Western Conference contender like the Warriors. There have been rumors that the Warriors want to add more talent to the roster alongside Steph Curry. Will they make a trade with the Nets to acquire one of Brooklyn’s key players?
