Through their first 22 games to start the 2024-25 season, the Miami Heat are 12-10. The team is 7-3 in their last 10 and is on a three-game win streak. Miami is fifth in the Eastern Conference about one quarter through the season. As we approach the middle of December, trade rumors around the league begin to swirl.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Heat are open to listening to trade offers for Jimmy Butler. The six-time all-star is in his 14th professional season and his sixth with Miami. His agent Bernie Lee has said that Houston and Dallas are his preferred trade destinations. He wants to play for a win-now team and the Heat might not offer that for Butler anymore.

Will Jimmy Butler be traded by the Miami Heat in 2024-25?

Jimmy Butler was the 30th pick by the Bulls in the 2011 NBA draft out of Marquette. He played his first six seasons in Chicago and was an all-star in his final three seasons. Butler’s best season with Chicago was in 2016-17 when he averaged (23.9) points, (6.2) rebounds, (5.5) assists, and (1.9) steals per game. The all-star SF played two seasons for Minnesota before they traded him in 2018-19 to the Philadelphia 76ers. Butler spent 55 games with Philly before he signed a long-term deal with the Miami Heat.

The six-time all-star has been with Miami ever since and that’s where Butler has had the most team success in his career. Butler and the Heat have made the NBA Finals twice but have lost in both appearances. In 17 games this season, Butler is averaging (19.0) points, (5.4) rebounds, (4.8) assists, and (1.2) steals per game. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Heat is open to listening to trade calls for Jimmy Butler. Miami would be willing to make a deal if the trade proposal is enough in return. At 35, Butler is at the tail end of his career and the Heat could be ready to move on.
