La Rochelle boss Ronan O’Gara has signalled his international coaching aspirations, targeting the top jobs in Ireland, England, or France.
The legendary Irish playmaker, who has transformed La Rochelle into European champions, is unapologetically clear about his future goals.
“Of course, I am. You’ve got to have those ambitions because you want to be the best you can be. There are Test jobs I’d bite people’s hands off for,” the 47-year-old O’Gara has been quoted in the media.
Ruling out the Wales job, he shared his preferred destinations. “Without lacking humility, I’d prefer Ireland, England or France,” he stated.

Despite current national coaches Steve Borthwick, Andy Farrell, and Fabien Galthie being firmly entrenched, O’Gara’s message is clear: “There’s only one guy who can show the way. I’m the leader.
“I got so much out of the game. It gave me wonderful emotions and now I want to really try and give back.”
With two European titles and successful stints at Crusaders and Racing 92, O’Gara’s credentials are impeccable, and his coaching philosophy remains uncompromising.
“In France, I’m seen as very demanding and difficult because of the standards I try to keep, but I just want players to experience what I did,” he said.
