Jude Bellingham found the net for a fifth consecutive La Liga game as Real Madrid bounced back from defeat in midweek to beat Girona.

Bellingham, Arda Guler and Kylian Mbappe all scored as Los Blancos saw off Girona 3-0 at Estadi Municipal de Montilivi on Saturday.

The 21-year-old England midfielder becomes first Real player since Karim Benzema in 2021 to score in five league matches in a row.

Bellingham had previously not found the net this season before this recent run of goals.

Realā€™s number five opened the scoring on 36-minutes before setting up Guler for his teamā€™s second after the break.

Bellingham then had to be replaced by Dani Ceballos after taking a knock.

Real added a third when Kylian Mbappe scored his ninth La Liga goal after being picked out by Luka Modric.

The result comes just three days after Madrid fell to a 2-1 defeat to high-flying Athletic Club and moves Carlo Ancelottiā€™s side to within two points of leaders Barcelona with a game in hand.

Realā€™s Catalan rivals were held to a 2-2 draw at Real Betis earlier in the day. Robert Lewandowski bagged his 23rd goal in 21 club games this season but it was not enough to prevent Barcelona from dropping points for the fourth time in five La Liga games.

Lewandowski found the net in the 39th-minute at the Benito Villamarin Stadium beforeĀ Giovani Lo Celso equalised with a penalty in the 68th minute after Frenkie de Jong was sent off for bringing down former Barca teammate Vitor Roque.

Ferran Torres restored the visitorsā€™ lead butĀ Betis scored a 94th-minute equaliser courtesy of Assane Diao to secure a 2-2 draw.

Next up for Real is a trip to Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, while Barcelona travel to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
