India National Cricket Team batter Shreyas Iyer came up with a brilliant hand with the bat in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai is hosting the game between the two teams.
Shreyas Iyer yet again proved why he is rated as the best No.4 batter for India in the ODIs. The right-hander yet again thrived under pressure and kept his team in the hunt in the final. He came out to bat when India lost Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli in quick succession of time before Rohit Sharma perished too.
Shreyas Iyer soaked in all the pressure and played a stellar innings to bring his team back into the game. The right-hander continued his golden touch with the bat and made sure that he didn’t let New Zealand take complete command of the game with quick wickets.
Shreyas Iyer, along with Axar Patel, put pressure back on New Zealand and was looking all set for a brilliant half-century. But his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Rachin Ravindra in the field as the Kiwi all-rounder took a magnificent catch to send the batter packing.
On the 4th ball of the 39th over, Mitchell Santner bowled a tad short ball and the batter tried to scoop it over the on-side. He had to stay low but didn’t get the necessary elevation and ended up lobbing the ball in the air and in front of Rachin Ravindra at backward square leg.
Rachin Ravindra ran across to his left and dived forward to take a good low catch with two hands. With his catch, the fans at the stadium went silent with New Zealand making a comeback in the game again.
