For the first time in seven years, Manchester City head into a Premier League game as outsiders as they visit a formidable Liverpool side at Anfield.
The difference form between the two sides, so often title rivals in years gone by, could hardly be more stark, with Liverpool sweeping almost everyone in their path aside this season, most recently Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday.
In contrast, City have not won any of their last six games. A draw in their last game to end a run of five defeats was arguably the most concerning after letting slip a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Arne Slot’s men are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and win for the Reds on Sunday could well end City’s title hopes already.
