Looking to lay down a marker in the transfer market just as they have done on the pitch in the Premier League, Nottingham Forest have reportedly made contact with a South American forward’s agent.
Nottingham Forest transfer news
In the end, Nottingham Forest enjoyed a fairly quiet transfer window with their sights firmly set on finishing the race to qualify for Champions League football. But that didn’t stop them from testing the waters with reported bids for the likes of Matheus Cunha from Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. A bold approach to say the least, Forest are seemingly a club full of confidence.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side still have a job to do, however, and they were given a stark reminder of that up against Fulham last time out as the Cottagers battled to secure a 2-1 victory.
Champions League football wouldn’t just be an achievement celebrated by those on the pitch either. As the summer transfer window approaches, owner Evangelos Marinakis will be keen to see his side secure European qualification and earn new-found spending power which he could instantly put to use.
According to Calcio Mercato, Nottingham Forest are in contact with the agent of Yuri Alberto with Marinakis looking to win the race to sign the Corinthians forward worth €35m (£29m) this summer after making an enquiry.

The Tricky Trees have set their sights on a forward who could provide competition for Chris Wood.
Battling alongside the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and West Ham United, Forest’s Champions League attraction should instantly stand out for Alberto when assessing his options this summer.
What’s more, any concern that he may struggle for game time ahead of the impressive Chris Wood should be eased by the fact that the forward is now 33 years old and cannot go on forever. Setting their sights on the summer, Forest could welcome the future of their frontline in 23-year-old Alberto.
“Gifted” Alberto is one to watch
Whilst it’s easy to celebrate the sensational form that Wood has been in throughout the current campaign, his age creates a fast-approaching problem for Forest. Those at the City Ground must commence their search for replacements this summer and with Taiwo Awoniyi often struggling to step up, they should turn towards Alberto.
The Corinthians star has scored three goals in 10 games so far this season but enjoyed his most impressive work in the previous campaign in which he found the back of the net a stunning 31 times. Earning deserved praise as a result in the last year or so, U23 scout Antonio Mango recently described Alberto as “technically gifted”.
For just the second time in his career, Alberto has the chance to step into European football and could even swap Brazil for his first Champions League appearance courtesy of Nottingham Forest this summer.
