Australia will face Fiji at home for the first time since 2017 in preparation for the much-anticipated British & Irish Lions tour Down Under this year.
The Wallabies are set to host the Flying Fijians in Newcastle on Sunday, 6 July, in their only warm-up match before the three-Test series against the Lions.
The clash marks Fiji’s first visit to Australia since 2017 and will take place at McDonald Jones Stadium, where the Wallabies have played just twice before.

The teams last met in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where Fiji narrowly lost to England in the quarter-finals and later defeated Wales in Cardiff. Australia holds a dominant 19-3 record over the Pacific Islanders in 23 Tests, with one draw.
“It will be great to get the squad together and to have a genuine Test match prior to the British & Irish Lions series,” Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt said.
“Fiji were just six points shy of beating England at the last World Cup. They beat Wales in Cardiff last November and bring a physicality and flair that makes them entertaining to watch and tough to beat.”
